Maintenance/Repair Worker

Job Summary
The Maintenance/Repair Worker performs minor repairs and general maintenance of Franklin Primary Health Center, Inc. clinical and administrative buildings, facilities, and service equipment. This position performs routine general maintenance, construction, material handling, and limited semi-skilled repair activities.
Essential Functions
Inventory
- Maintain the upkeep and organization of storage facilities.
- Assist the Purchasing Department with developing and maintaining inventory control lists for items stored at each facility.
- Maintain accurate inventory listings as items are added to or removed from storage.
- Provide updated storage area inventory information to Purchasing and leadership as requested.
Maintenance & Repair
- Receive work assignments from the supervisor and communicate with individuals requesting repairs to determine the type of work required.
- Perform minor repairs to building fixtures.
- Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs within the scope of the position.
- Clean electrical fixtures and replace light bulbs as needed.
- Perform interior and exterior touch-up painting using brushes, rollers, or spray-painting equipment.
- Report major maintenance and repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Move boxes, office furniture, equipment, and other materials manually or with the use of a hand truck.
- Complete work orders for maintenance assignments, including documentation of materials used and time involved.
- Remove garbage and trash from clinical sites as required during the workday and maintenance assignments.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, repair supplies, and materials.
- Prepare supply requisitions for supervisor approval as replacement needs arise.
- Perform other maintenance, repair, and construction duties within the employee’s abilities and skills at Franklin Primary Health Center locations as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- Substitute for the courier and/or van driver when employees are absent or reassigned.
- Participate in Facility and Safety Committee meetings.
- Assist with inspections of Franklin Primary Health Center facilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Minimum grammar school education or equivalent; high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to prepare simple written correspondence and communicate effectively with customers, patients, and employees.
- Previous personal or professional experience with maintenance and repair activities.
- Mechanical aptitude acquired through vocational training, outside activities, job experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Ability to learn and safely use standard maintenance equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to learn repetitive tasks quickly.
Licenses & Driving Requirements
- Must possess a valid Alabama driver’s license.
- Must maintain a good driving record.
- Must maintain appropriate insurance and be insurable under the company’s insurance requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to organize work and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of proper equipment care and awareness of workplace hazards.
- Ability to work extended hours when required.
- Ability to document work assignments, completed tasks, and follow-up instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform frequent stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and bending.
- Physical strength and ability sufficient to perform routine and heavy manual tasks associated with assigned duties.
- Ability to lift more than 25 pounds on a regular basis as required by the position.

- Must complete required Safety and Hazard Communication training annually.
- Must follow applicable safety standards and procedures.
- Must comply with Franklin Primary Health Center’s HIPAA Privacy Rule policies and procedures.
