Full-time Overview:
Franklin Primary Health Center is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to provide clinical services to children and adolescents in Mobile, AL. This full-time position reports to the Director of Behavioral Health and collaborates with the School-Based Program to ensure quality mental health care for youth.
Key Responsibilities:
– Complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments and mental health evaluations
– Provide individual, group, family, and play therapy using appropriate therapeutic models
– Use assessment data to support DSM-V diagnoses
– Develop measurable treatment plans and behavior management strategies
– Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to community services
– Respond to crises and implement de-escalation strategies
– Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to coordinate care
– Participate in treatment team meetings and clinical staffing
– Maintain compliance with program standards and certification requirements
– Refer patients to legal, financial, healthcare, and social services as needed
– Maintain accurate clinical documentation, charts, and referrals
– Contribute to reporting for funding agencies and administration
– Maintain professional licensure and attend trainings to enhance skills
– Manage caseload effectively and seek supervision when needed
– Participate in FPHC community events and support office operations and policies
Qualifications:
– Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
– Active Alabama license (LPC, LICSW, LMFT, or license-eligible)
– Experience with children and adolescents preferred
– Strong understanding of therapeutic modalities and crisis intervention
– Excellent documentation and communication skills
